The G1206 is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive for heavy shunting and mainline service. The locomotive was developed and built by MaK (Maschinenbau Kiel) in 1997. In 1998, MaK was acquired by Vossloh, and since then the locomotives have been operating under the name Vossloh G1206.
